The Washington Area Community Investment Fund, Inc. (Wacif) is one of the Washington, DC metropolitan area’s leading Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs). Established in 1987, Wacif aims to increase equity and economic opportunity in underserved communities in the Washington, DC area by investing knowledge, social, and financial capital in low- and moderate-income entrepreneurs.
In December 2021, The HIVE was acquired by Wacif to continue and accelerate The HIVE’s mission and purpose within the community. Thanks to the support of generous donors and partner organizations, our inclusive co-working space has provided opportunities for Washington, DC area entrepreneurs.
Anacostia and Ward 8 resident, Jeffrey Herrell, has been working with The HIVE since 2013. With a vested interest in the community, Jeffrey seeks to foster entrepreneurial endeavors that will bring prosperity to the residents and neighborhood of Anacostia.
You can find Jess at the Anacostia Arts Center working with The HIVE’s co-working space, helping set up the next art exhibit, or developing creative media strategies. Over the past 4+ years, Jess has led and curated various programs, art shows, events, and workshops in partnership with the local community.
